This Mother’s Day, we celebrate moms of all kinds...traditional moms, step-moms, single moms, adoptive moms, foster moms, moms to be, even Mr. Moms. We also want to celebrate women who may not have children, but have been a mom to our kids.  Furthermore, the youth group leaders, teachers, or coaches who have influenced and impacted our kids. And never to forget, let's take a moment to reach out to those who may find this day challenging, who may no longer have a mom to celebrate with.Â
We want to celebrate ALL who are moms in some way....but let’s be honest, celebrations of any kind are a little tricky at the moment. However, honoring the moms in our life shouldn't be missed because of what's on going in the world and now is a great time to make new traditions. That extra effort and creativity will really resonate and be appreciated, especially during this time.
Hoping to celebrate your mom but not sure where to start? Whether you are isolating together or unfortunately apart, there are plenty of ways to show Mom you’re thinking of her. Here are some of the ways our Biasa Ohana is celebrating the “moms” in our lives.
Extra time inside has meant moms have been in over drive. More than ever, Moms deserve a day where they can stop worrying about cleaning, organizing and know they don't have to be perfect - that they can sit back and relax. Give mom a day off. If you are lucky enough to be celebrating together, why note create a home spa experience by gathering some of her pampering products. While she enjoys her warm bubble bath or face mask, why not do a little cleaning while she’s there? Maybe cook her favorite dish for family dinner or organize a family movie night with her top flick or play a family games night.
Turn homework into a homemade gift. These days of stay-at-home schooling presents opportunities to turn learning into love...a craft, home drawn card or story dedicated to mom.
Maybe you are celebrating from a far. Why not schedule an online Mother's Day call with loved ones and surprise mom. Collect beautiful photos of your mom and place them in the background of your Zoom call or put together a photo montage of your favorite pics on your iPhone and talk story on your call. Have family members all contribute a favorite photo of mom. If online chats aren’t her thing, create an album or book and send it to her virtually.Â
Send a sentimental and supportive gift, or maybe one that elicits a giggle. Why not surprise mom with a gift that also supports her favorite local business - maybe a gift card from your mom's favorite restaurant, local shop or spa for when our restrictions are lifted or that she could use online.
Whateverway you chose to celebrate the mother figure in your life, we are here for you! Our online shop features thoughtfully curated local and unique gifts she would love, or gift cards can be made available. Please check out our website for more details or send us an email at biasarose@hotmail.com/sealaviepaia@gmail.com.
With much aloha and love from our family to yours,
The Biasa Ohana
